VOYAGEUR SOCCER SPILTS PRE-SEASON PAIR AGAINST BROCK AND MCMASTER
In their first of two preseason games on Saturday, the Voyageurs controlled the play early on, scoring both goals in the first half, as Brent Huffles of Sudbury, Ont., and sophomore Davor Alisic of Charlottetown each found the back of the net. Reigning OUA east MVP Scott Cliff of Sudbury, Ont. was in net, posting the shut-out.
"It was a good all around team performance, both vets and rookies contributed," said head coach Carlo Castrechino.
Sunday saw the Voyageurs play against the McMaster Marauders in Hamilton. The Voyageurs came out slow, and were never able to recover. McMaster scored a goal in each half, and Laurentian was held off the scoreboard. The Marauders won 2-0.
"This game exposed some flaws that will need to be corrected before we start the season," said Castrechino. "We are going to have a tough week of practice to get ready Carleton on Saturday."
The Voyageurs will fine tune and get ready to open the season against the defending OUA East champions on Sat., Sept. 5 at 2:15 p.m. The game will take place on the Laurentian Soccer Field. For complete coverage of the Voyageurs check out www.luvoyageurs.com.
