OUA M-SOCCER ROUNDUP: LAKERS SINK NO. 5 RAVENS
NORTH BAY, Ont. - In the first significant upset of the young OUA men's soccer season, the No. 5-nationally ranked Carleton Ravens lost 1-0 to the Nipissing Lakers on Sunday afternoon.
Shayn Karn (Callander, Ont.) scored in the 75th minute to give the Lakers the victory. Goaltender Matt Likuski (Oshawa, Ont.) earned the shutout for the home side.
The Ravens are now 0-1-1 after two road games to begin the season.
QUEEN'S 0, NO. 10 TORONTO 0
At Toronto, two teams coming off opening season victories lacked offensive punch as the Queen's Gaels and Toronto Varsity Blues battled to a scoreless draw.
First-year netminder John Smits (Mississauga, Ont.) has not allowed a goal for the Blues this season. Earning a shutout for the Gaels in goal was Sean Martin-Courtright (Calgary).
RYERSON 1, TRENT 1
At Trent, the host Excalibur battled the Ryerson Rams to a 1-1 draw.
Thaddeus Bolton scored Trent's lone goal, while Alex Braletic (Thornhill, Ont.) scored for Ryerson.
