GRYPHONS ANNOUNCE NEW ADDITION TO WOMEN'S HOCKEY COACHING STAFF
"Carly brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our program. I couldn't be more pleased to be adding her to our staff," said Flanagan.
Haggard is a graduate of Dartmouth College, where she was a standout collegiate player for the Big Green. She was named the Ivy League rookie of the year and then gained first team all-American notice and was the ECAC North player of the year in 2001-02. She went on to receive her bachelor of arts degree with a major in sociology and a minor in psychology.
After graduation in 2003 she opened the PASS Female Hockey School in British Columbia where she developed girls and women's hockey training camps including the planning and instruction of daily on and off-ice training sessions. She currently still co-owns and runs the school. She has also been serving as the assistant coach with the Oakville Ice junior hockey team for the past five seasons.
In 2007, Haggard moved to Switzerland to play for the HC Lugano team in the Swiss Professional Hockey League. This past April, she finished her third season in the league and was the leagues top scorer for the past two seasons.
Haggard is bound for the University of Guelph campus to join a Gryphon hockey program that is coming off one of its best seasons. The Gryphons finished second in OUA, spent most of the season nationally ranked and were OUA silver medalists.
Guelph will open the 2009-2010 season on Oct. 10 and 11, with a pair of away games at Windsor and Western respectively. For complete ticket information, please call 519-82-GRYPH.
