OLDEST HOCKEY RIVALRY STILL HAS EXCITEMENT IN GANANOQUE
Pronk was the fifth shooter for the Gaels as Queen’s came-from-behind to move their record to 2-1 in the annual affair.
The Gaels got offensive help from Scott Kenway (Calgary, Alta.) who also scored in the shootout along with Pat Doyle (Smith Falls, Ont.) who added two goals in regulation. Doyle’s second of the game came with just a minute remaining in the third period with the Gaels down 3-2. He snapped a wrist shot to beat the RMC net-minder to tie the game and move the game into over-time.
The game was played in honour of ‘Lou Jefferies’ who was a proud supporter of hockey played in Gananoque and at Queen’s University. Before the game, Queen’s Athletics and Recreation announced the Lou Jeffries scholarship recipient – this scholarship is awarded to a first year player who demonstrates leadership on-and-off the ice. This year’s recipient goes to Matthew Perry (Timmins, Ont.).
NOTES: The Queen’s – RMC rivalry is the oldest in hockey history dating back to 1886.
