Gadzosa and Wise named Pioneer Energy OUA athletes of the week
HAMILTON, Ont. - The following athletes have been named Pioneer Energy Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Athletes of the Week for the period ending December 1, 2013.
Each Pioneer Energy OUA Athlete of the Week will receive a gift card and a dri-fit T-shirt, courtesy of Pioneer Energy.
FEMALE: Breanna Gadzosa, Toronto Varsity Blues, Water polo
Third-year netminder Breanna Gadzosa was named the most valuable goalie in leading the University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's water polo team to the OUA title this past weekend at Varsity Pool. The Okotoks, Alta., native led the Blues to a perfect 3-0 record at the championship, allowing a tournament-low nine goals against in three games. Gadzosa was also named an OUA all-star after the Blues topped the Carleton Ravens 10-4 in the final to earn their second banner in the past three seasons.
MALE: Jamie Wise, Ryerson Rams, Hockey
Jamie Wise (Stouffville, Ont.) scored a hat-trick and added two assists in Saturday’s win over Concordia which helped push the Rams into a tie for second in the OUA west standings at the holiday break. The second-year forward's five point effort also moved him into a tie for the OUA and CIS scoring lead with 27 points through 13 games played.
