CIS Toronto Selects team announced for exhibition game against national junior team
Twenty-one hockey players from Toronto’s three universities have been chosen for the CIS Toronto Selects team that will suit up next weekend in an exhibition game against Canada’s national junior team.
Puck drop is set for 2:30pm on Saturday, Dec. 14 at the MasterCard Centre in Toronto.
Seven players each – one goaltender, two defencemen and four forwards – from Ryerson University, the University of Toronto and York University make up the squad that will face Canada’s top junior hockey players as they wrap up their selection camp in preparation for the 2014 World Junior Hockey Championships in Malmo, Sweden.
Head coaches Darren Lowe from the Varsity Blues, Jim Wells from the Lions and Graham Wise from the Rams will coach the team.
“Any time we can expose our student-athletes to a program of excellence like Hockey Canada and the national junior team, it is an honour to do so,” said Wells. “We have an obligation to give our student-athletes the best experience possible and this is one day they will never forget.”
Tickets for the contest can be purchased at the door for $10 each.
