BADGERS HOLD OFF LANCERS 3-1, LAURIER WINS NARROWLY OVER QUEEN�S
Second year Michelle Lee (Innisfil, Ont.) set up sophomore Tika Patrie (Sudbury, Ont.) who beat Windsor goaltender at 13:54 to score the first of the game. Freshman Karolyn McIlmoyle (Newmarket, Ont.) then set up freshman Emily Hooper (Hamilton, Ont.) who scored the eventual game winner at 10:37 giving Brock a 2-0 lead.
The Lancers pulled a goal back before McIlmoyle scored the final goal of the contest to give Brock a 3-1 lead and the win. The Badgers were outshot 23-13 for the game as third year goaltender Beth Clause (Hamilton, Ont.) making some key saves in the third period to secure two points.
Laurier 2, Queen's 1
The number five nationally-ranked Wilfrid Laurier University Golden Hawks (9-9-1) defeated the Queen's Golden Gaels (5-5-3) by a score of 2-1 in front of 106 fans at the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex. The win keeps Laurier in second place and the loss for Queen's sits them two spots back in fourth place.
The first period saw the Golden Gaels set the tone early with lots of time spent in the Hawks zone. Andrea LeBlanc (Newmarket, Ont.) beat Hawk goaltender Morgan Wielgosz (Dorchester, Ont.) low to open the scoring. Laurier answered back to create some chances of their own. Lauren Barch (Burlington, Ont.) buried a rebound for her sixth of the year.
The period ended with the scored tied and the Lady Hawks out shooting their opponents 8-5. The final period ended with a flourish as the Golden Hawks killed off many penalties and Wielgosz turned away several screened shots to secure the win for the Golden Hawks.
