2008 OUA WOMEN'S HOCKEY QUARTER-FINAL PLAYOFF PREVIEW
Guelph vs Windsor - #6 vs #3
The Windsor Lancers (12-13-1-1) are set to make a return to the playoffs this season as they get set for a tough match-up against a strong Guelph Gryphons (17-9-0-1) squad. Both teams will be looking to rebound from their final game of the season which saw the Lancers on the losing side of a 4-1 loss to the No.3 Laurier Golden Hawks. The Gryphons are also coming off a 1-0 defeat at the hands of the Queen's Golden Gaels. Windsor will need to rely heavily on their defensive play and outstanding second year netminder Jamie Tessier (Copper Cliff, ON). Tessier, who has the ability to steal a game for her Lancer squad, finished the season third in the OUA with a goals against average of 1.86, with four shutouts and a 0.932 save percentage. Guelph will look to the offensive power of rookie Jennifer Rivers (York, ON) who finished the regular season seventh in the OUA in scoring with 17 goals and eight assists on the year. Guelph has taken the three-game series between the two teams 3-0 this season, and will look to make it four in a row on Saturday.

Queen's vs York - #4 vs #5
In a tight battle for playoff positions down the stretch, the York Lions (11-11-4-1) finished their last three games of the regular season undefeated and will look to carry that momentum into the playoffs in hopes of upsetting the Queen's Golden Gaels (12-9-6-0) in the quarter-finals. The Lions will be in tough as the Golden Gaels took the three game regular season series 3-0. Queen's will look for the fire power of Elizabeth Kench (Gananoque, ON) to continue into the playoffs as the second-year right winger finished the season fourth in the OUA in scoring with 13 goals and 14 assists. The Golden Gaels have also had a standout year from goaltender Melissa John (Unionville, ON) who finished the season fourth in the OUA with a goals against average of 1.91, with two shutouts and a .932 save percentage. The Lions will look to counter with forward Courtney Unruh (Fort St.John, ON) who finished the regular season with nine goals and 16 assists on the season.

The No.3 Laurier Golden Hawks and No.6 Toronto Varsity Blues earned first round byes into the semifinals and await the winners of the quarter-finals.
