BROCK AND YORK SKATE TO A 1-1 TIE, WHILE QUEEN'S TAKE A 7-6 WIN OVER GUELPH
The Brock University women's hockey team (4-9-3 OUA) played a great two-way game and managed a 1-1 tie against the York Lions Sunday night at Beatrice Ice Gardens.
The Lions opened the scoring just under four minutes into the opening frame when Jessica Turi finished off a beautiful pass from Justine Jackson on the power play. Although being down by a goal, the Badgers played a solid first period and brought their confidence with them into the second.
Both teams would run into some penalty trouble throughout the second period, providing ample scoring chances at both ends. Brock goaltender Beth Clause (Hamilton, ON) was up for the challenge, stopping everything that came her way. It was birthday girl, Michelle Lee (Innisfil ON), that would even things up with her fifth goal of the year with four minutes remaining in the second period, assisted by rookies Karolyn McIlmoyle (Newmarket, ON) and Brittany Farquharson (Chatham ON).
The Badgers would keep their momentum going, out-shooting the Lions 15-4 in the third period. However Brock was unable to solve goaltender Sydney McMurter who was outstanding for York. Both teams would fail to connect on multiple power play opportunities.
An exciting overtime would prove nothing and both teams would walk away with a single point each.
Queen's 7, Guelph 6
The Golden Gaels won a thriller Friday night with a 7-6 victory over the No.7 Guelph Gryphons. Kelsey Thomson of (Martintown, ON) scored her second goal of the night with just 28 seconds to go in the game to break the 6-6 tie in a game that saw 13 goals in total.

Guelph struck back seven minutes later when Jennifer Rivers of (York, ON) scored her first of three goals on the night. The Gaels retook the lead on a Cassie Sparks (Stouffville, ON) goal with 5:03 left in the period, only to see the Gryphons tie it up again 15 seconds later.
The second period saw the Gryphons take a 4-3 lead with 15 seconds to go thanks to Rivers' third goal, only for Elizabeth Kench (Gananoque, ON) to tie the game nine seconds later. The game appeared to be headed for overtime with the score tied at six until Thomson's late goal.
