RAVENS TO HIT THE ICE IN 2007/08 SEASON
The Ravens will play their home games at the beautiful state-of-the-art Carleton University Ice House, which currently seats 500 plus fans in its main rink. The Carleton University Ravens men's team will plan to play in the OUA Far East Division. The OUA Far East is currently the McGill University Redmen, Concordia University Stingers, University of Ottawa Gee Gees and UQTR Patriotes.
\"I am very pleased to announce men's varsity ice hockey as our 20th varsity interuniversity team,\" said Love. \"We will now prepare to put the best possible product on the ice we can over the next 18 months.\"
The following is the timeline for the new Carleton University men's varsity hockey program:
January, 2006 - Drew Love, Director of Physical Recreation & Athletics delivered the \"Letter of Intent\" to the OUA office.
March, 2006 - The national search commences for Carleton University's first full-time men's hockey head coach.
May, 2006 - The appointment of the first full-time men's hockey head coach. Introduction of new program and head coach to Ottawa-Outaouais Media.
September, 2006 - Carleton will play an OUA exhibition schedule against other university teams in preparation for the 2007-08 season.
September, 2007 - Carleton drops the puck as an official member of the OUA and the CIS.
