PARKER NAMED RAVENS' BENCH BOSS
Parker, presently is an assistant coach with the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League. Parker is a graduate of St. Francis Xavier University X-Men of Atlantic University Sport (AUS), where he played from 1985 to 1989. In the 1988/89 season, Parker was captain of St. Francis Xavier and was selected to the AUS All-Star team.
Parker is no stranger to the university game as he coached with Clarkson University Golden Knights, an NCAA Division One ice hockey program, from 2002 to 2004. Parker's duties included recruiting and running of the day-to-day operations of the program, including budgets.
A graduate of Ottawa's J.S. Woodsworth High School, Parker looks forward to the challenge of building the Ravens from scratch. \"I am very happy that Fred accepted our offer to start our men's varsity ice hockey program,\" said Jennifer Brenning, Associate Director of Recreation & Athletics.
The men's varsity ice hockey program will play a tentative 18-game exhibition schedule against other CIS schools in 2006/07 and compete in the OUA and CIS in 2007/08. The Ravens will play their home game in the Carleton University Ice House http://www.carleton.ca/icehouse
