YORK'S DRUCE DRESSES FOR MARLIES
As a result, the Marlies contacted Lions head coach Graham Wise about getting the 22 year-old Druce to agree to a one-day amateur agreement. Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) agreed to release the goaltender with a one-time exception.
Druce was on the bench and did not see any action in Toronto's 5-2 win over the Hamilton Bulldogs on Wednesday.
Druce was the go-to guy between the pipes for York this year, posting a 10-12-1 record, a 3.70 GAA, a .906 save percentage and one shutout in 23 regular season games. He finished second in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) in games and minutes played. In Druce's first season with the Lions, he split the goaltending duties and finished with a 4-5-4 record, a 2.79 GAA and a save percentage of .920.
Prior to attending York, Druce played in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the Oshawa Generals and Sault Saint Marie Greyhounds.
Druce was one of four Lions to practise with the Toronto Maple Leafs during the Olympic break. Druce, along with Steve Chabbert, rookie centre Tyler Harrison and sophomore defender Marcus Smith all skated with the Leafs.
Chabbert signed a contract with the Marlies following the Olympic break has been with the team ever since.
