OUA W-BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: MULLINS, NO. 2 LANCERS TOO MUCH FOR WARRIORS
Despite the inclement weather, the Lancers moved to 11-1 on the season, remain in first place in the OUA West Division and maintain their No. 2 ranking in Canada with the victory.
On Saturday night, Windsor got off to another slow start as Waterloo made some shots early on and were able to disrupt the Lancer offensive attack. The Warriors held a 20-19 first quarter lead and maintained a slight edge at the break, 36-34.
The second half was a different story as the Lancers put together a superb third quarter, executing soundly at the offensive end and by getting some consistent defensive play.
Laura Mullins (Windsor, Ont.) led the way on offence as she put together a tremendous scoring night which helped propel her team into the lead. The Lancers outscored the Warriors 25-8 in the third quarter to take control of the game.
Waterloo had no answer for the scoring power of the Lancers as they cruised to the 77-61 victory.
In the win, Mullins led all scorers with 24 points on 9-of-12 shooting and added four rebounds. Dranadia Roc (Montreal, Que.) chipped in with 15 points while the twin towers, Raelyn Prince (Harrow, Ont.) and Iva Peklova (Prague, Czech Republic) each added 12 points and four rebounds.
Windsor will be back in action on Wed., Jan. 14 as they travel to Hamilton to take on the McMaster Marauders. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.

MCMASTER 55, LAKEHEAD 53

Lakehead now has a 7-5 OUA mark (14-6 overall) while MAC has a 9-4 OUA record and are 14-7 overall.
The game went right down to the wire and Lakehead was down two points with 1.8 seconds left and one last chance for a tying or winning shot. However, their inbounds pass was errant and went out of bounds and that was all she wrote for the Wolves on this night.

Shannon Vellinga (Thunder Bay, Ont.) had eight points and seven boards while Lisa Styles (Greenwood, N.S.) and Sarah Gordon (Halifax, N.S.) had six points apiece.

Lakehead was 17-of-50 from the field (34 percent) compared to MAC's 23-of-61 (37.4 percent). Lakehead was bombing from long range; going 8-of-20 (40 percent) compared to McMaster's 4-of-14 (28.6 percent). Lakehead out-rebounded MAC 35-24 but committed 24 turnovers to MAC's 21.
