OUA W-BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: WULFF LEADS NO. 2 LANCERS PAST GOLDEN HAWKS
In the first quarter, the Golden Hawks managed to go basket for basket against the No. 1 team in the OUA West Division. The purple and gold kept their game plan simple and limited the Lancers opportunities.
Windsor broke out in the second quarter, scoring 25 points to the home team's eight. Wulff (pictured) nailed three shots from beyond the arc in the frame to give the Lancers a 20-point lead, before a short four-point run by the Hawks cut into it at the end of the half.
The third quarter saw the home team regroup and cut down Windsor's lead to 12 before the Lancers defence stepped up and made some key stops. After each stop the visitors drove the ball back up the court and scored. At the end of the frame the Lancers had extended their lead to 24. Windsor continued to execute in the fourth quarter, building their lead to as much as 30 before the end of the game.
Windsor finished the game sinking 30 of 60 shots to end with a 50 percent shooting percentage. The Hawks shot 30.8 percent, hitting 16 of their 52 opportunities.
Renata Adamczyk (Dundas, Ont.) led the Golden Hawks with a 12-point performance and five steals. Point guard Amber Hillis (Hamilton, Ont.) tied her career-high with 10 points in the game.
For the Lancers, Wulff scored 22 points, going 5-of-6 from three-point-land. She was followed by 1,000-point scorer Dranadia Roc (Montreal, Que.) with 12 points and Raelyn Prince (Harrow, Ont.) with 11. In total, 11 players scored points for Windsor.
