HOOPS FOR HOPE RAISES $5,000 FOR MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS RESEARCH
At the final buzzer, the Halifax Thunder Selects edge the Junior Wolves, 58-54 in the under 17 championship game.
The U-15 championship game ended with the Thunder Selects again beating the Junior Wolves, 69-33.
Holly Philpott (U-17 Thunder Selects) earned MVP honours in helping her team to the tournament win, with her program's up-and-coming Emily Lerette winning MVP in the U-15 division.
Thunderwolves head coach Jon Kreiner was enthused by the successes of the first Hoops for Hope tournament in Thunder Bay.
"I couldn't be happier with the way this first ever Hoops for Hope tournament for MS went this past weekend," Kreiner said. "As a fundraiser we raised over $5,000 for multiple sclerosis research and as a tournament we had super basketball for this time of year. Our committee and parents did an amazing job of hosting the out-of-town teams with tours, socials at cottages and BBQ's and overall it was an event that the players will remember for a lifetime."
