OUA W-BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: ROC BECOMES LANCERS ALL-TIME LEADING SCORER IN VICTORY OVER MUSTANGS
The win is the 11th in a row for the Lancers as they move to 14-1 on the OUA season. It also builds their lead to three games over the second place Mustangs in the OUA West Division.
The Mustangs came out on fire as they built an early 10-3 lead in the opening quarter. The Lancers eventually settled down and started to make shots, but still trailed Western 17-12 after one quarter.
In the second, both defences took over as each team did a solid job of containing the other's offensive attack. Windsor outscored Western 12-9 in the frame and trailed only 26-24 at the half.
The Lancers began to take control of the game in the second half as they combined solid low post scoring by Iva Peklova (Prague, Czech Republic) with some consistent perimeter shooting.
The Lancers took over the lead at 44-42 in the third quarter and never looked back as they built a 10-point cushion en route to the 70-57 victory.
In the win, Peklova led all Lancer scorers with 16 points and 7 rebounds while Emily Abbott (Calgary, Alta.) had a tremendous all around game as she finished with 13 points and played solid perimeter defence.
Dranadia Roc (Montreal, Que.) made history on the night as she finished with 13 points and five assists and became Lancer women's basketball's all-time leading scorer.

WATERLOO, Ont. – Renata Adamczyk (Dundas, Ont.) and Laura Pacevicius (Acton, Ont.) both picked up double-doubles in Laurier's 67-52 win over the McMaster Marauders at the Athletic Complex.
Adamczyk started the match off for the Hawks scoring the teams first nine points to get the purple and gold on the board early and often. Laurier took their queue from Renata and played strong game down low, out-rebounding their opponents 42-33. The purple and gold led at the half, 31-25.

GUELPH 81, BROCK 49
GUELPH, Ont. - Fourth-year guard Kris Yallin (Port Colborne, Ont.) led all scorers with 23 points as the Guelph Gryphon women's basketball team cruised to a commanding 81-49 victory over the Brock Badgers at the W.F. Mitchell Athletic Centre. The Gryphons improve to 7-8, while the Badgers fall to 6-9.
Yallin nailed 15 of her 23 points in the first half, including 5-of-10 from three point range. Third-year forward Rachel Hancock (Ingersoll, Ont.) was 8-of-10 from the field for 16 points and five rebounds. Rookies Jasmine Douglas (Guelph, Ont.) and Samantha Russell (Paradise Valley, Arizona) scored 11 and 10 points respectively. Russell was outstanding on the glass as well, notching a double-double with a game-high 10 rebounds. Point guard, Chrissy Martin (Grande Pointe, Ont.) was a sparkplug for the tenacious Gryphon defence grabbing three steals and scoring 10 points.
The Gryphons brought down 41 rebounds, and held the Badgers to only 29 on the night. Guelph also did a great job at keeping the pressure on defence, scoring 27-points off turnovers.
In the first quarter, Brock took an early 2-0 lead, but it was their only one of the game. The Gryphons went on a 22-9 run, spanning the first quarter and at one point held the Badgers scoreless for a five-minute period with their smothering defensive pressure. Guelph then took a commanding 40-22 lead into the locker room at halftime, and held the Badgers to 28 percent shooting from the field, while shooting 50 percent (18-for-36) in the first half.
In the second half it was much the same, as Guelph never trailed, outscoring the Badgers 41-27, as the Gryphon defence remained stingy causing a total of 10 Brock turnovers. Guelph took its largest lead of the game, 30 points, when Yallin moved the score to 69-39 on a three-pointer with four minutes remaining in regulation. The rest of the way, the Badgers could not manage to cut the deficit to less than 30 points, and the Gryphons pulled away.
The win, snapped a six-game losing streak for Guelph, dating back to Nov. 28 in a win over Ryerson. More importantly tonight, the Gryphons were able to pull together a consistent performance after a few bad quarters have cost them some recent games.
"We went into the game wanting to focus and adapt for a solid 40 minutes and not allow ourselves to make mistakes and get down. And we did that. It was a great team win for us, we weathered a small third quarter run and overall played four consistent quarters of basketball and that was huge for us," commented head coach Angela Orton.
