OUA W-BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: LANCERS IMPROVE TO 19-1
Windsor doubled up on the Badgers in the first quarter outscoring them 25-12. In five games during the Badgers nine-game losing streak, they have scored 12 or less points in the first quarter.
Leading Brock's offence was sophomore Hillary Woodside (Fall River, N.S.) who recorded 14 points. The other Brock player in double digits was sophomore Devyn Cuncic (Hamilton, Ont.) who added 10 points in the loss.
Windsor had five players reach double figures led by Alisa Wulff (Pickering, Ont.) who registered a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Dranadia Roc (Montreal, Que.) contributed with 18 points while Emily Abbott (Calgary, Alta.), Iva Peklova (Prague, Czech Republic) and Raelyn Prince (Harrow, Ont.) chipped in with 11, 10 and 10 points respectively.

TORONTO 74, CARLETON 71
TORONTO, Ont. - Down by two points with two minutes to go, the Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team dug deep and pulled out the 74-71 win over the visiting Carleton Ravens on Saturday at the Sports Gym.
Fifth-year forward Tara Kinnear (Kemptville, Ont.) put on a show down the stretch, hitting key free throws and pulling down huge rebounds. The Blues Player of the Game came up with the block and the steal with five seconds left in regulation to help secure the win.
With the victory, Toronto maintains their lead at the top of the OUA East Division, two points ahead of the second-place Ottawa Gee-Gees. They also extend their win streak to 11 games and remain undefeated in 2009.
Nicki Schutz (Toronto, Ont.) finished with 20 points and nine rebounds, while Erin McNeely (Kingston, Ont.) added eight, including 2-of-2 from beyond the arc.
Ines Jelic (London, Ont.) finished with a team-high 20 points and six rebounds for the Gee-Gees. Tanya Perry (Barrie, Ont.) added 19, while Courtney Smith (Ottawa, Ont.), Ashleigh Cleary (Kemptville, Ont.) and Kelly Killoran (Sarnia, Ont.) each had eight apiece.

WESTERN 67, LAKEHEAD 62
LONDON, Ont. - Forward Bess Lennox recorded her 16th double-double of the season as the Western Mustangs survived a see-saw first quarter and late comeback effort from Lakehead to win 67-62 at Alumni Hall on Saturday.
With the win, Western improves to 15-5 while Lakehead falls to 11-9.
A day after becoming the Mustangs all-time career scoring leader, Amanda Anderson (Chatham, Ont.) led Western with a game-high 19 points, adding six rebounds and a pair of steals. She now has 1,216 career points.
Lennox (Ottawa, Ont.) added 16 points and 11 boards, while Brittany MacDonald (Toronto, Ont.) had 11 first half points including a trio of three-pointers.
Tasia McKenna (Timberlea, N.S.) led the Thunderwolves with 15 points, while Lindsay Druery (Smithville, Ont.) had eight points and 10 boards. Kathryn Verboom (Thunder Bay, Ont.) added 10 points, as did Emily Ross (Thunder Bay, Ont.) who came off the bench with her contributions.

MCMASTER 75, LAURIER 49
HAMILTON, Ont. – Three Marauders entered double digits as the McMaster Marauders (13-7) defeated the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks 75-49 at Burridge Gym.
The Laurier Golden Hawks (9-11) went to Hamilton looking secure their playoff position, however the purple and gold got off to a rocky start scoring only seven points in the first quarter to the home team's 21. The visitors ramped in up in the second frame, allowing both teams to score 16 points. The Marauders still held a large 14 point lead going into the break.
Laurier came out after the half looking to turn this game around, but things would not go their way. In the third quarter, McMaster again outscored the visitors 16-6, giving the home team a 24-point advantage going in to the final frame. While both teams would a battle hard, Laurier could not hold the Marauders shooters in check.
McMaster won the battle of the boards, out-rebounding the Golden Hawks 37-25 in the game. The Marauders also had greater success shooting from the floor, hitting 30-of-62 shots, while Laurier only made 16-of-53.
The top scorer for the Golden Hawks was Renata Adamczyk (Dundas, Ont.) with 10 points in the game. The next closest Hawks was Amanda McDonald (Sudbury, Ont.) with seven. Leading rebounder for the Hawks was Megan Grant (Thunder Bay, Ont.) with five.
McMaster had three players in double digits with Taylor Chiarot (Hamilton, Ont.) and Sara Pilon-Bignell (Ancaster, Ont.) both scoring 16 points and Taylor Smith (Hamilton, Ont.) sinking 15. Pilon-Bignell also led the team in rebounding with nine.

OTTAWA 67, RYERSON 61
TORONTO, Ont. - The Ryerson Rams (9-11) were done in by a disastrous second quarter that saw them outscored 20-4 as they fell 67-61 to the Ottawa Gee-Gees (13-7) in women's basketball action on Saturday at Kerr Hall.
Despite trailing by 15 points heading into the fourth quarter, the Rams managed to close the gap to as little as four points using some solid three-point shooting, but the comeback proved too little too late as Ottawa weathered Ryerson's comeback and pulled out the six-point victory.
Rebecca Cox (Renfrew, Ont.) and Lisa Goldring (Burlington, Ont.) led Ryerson in scoring, each pouring in 13 points. Lindsay Taylor (Fenelon Falls, Ont.) added 10 points off three three-pointers, while Angela Tilk (Welland, Ont.) grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
The Gee-Gees were led by Kelly Weir (Ottawa, Ont.) who netted a game-high 15 points in the win. Emilie Morasse (Quebec City, Que.) added 12 points and Hannah Sunley-Paisley (Toronto, Ont.) fell one point short of a double-double with nine points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
The Rams were out-shot by Ottawa 41.1 percent to 32.9 percent from the floor and 35.7 percent to 24 percent from beyond the arc. Ryerson was also out-rebounded by the Gee-Gees 39-30 but won the turnover battle 19-9.
