GOLDEN GAELS TAKE A PAIR FROM THE MUSTANGS
The defending champion Laurier Golden Hawks had a convincing 5-1 win over the Windsor Lancers Sunday, keeping them atop the standing with four wins in four games. The teams entered the third period knotted at 1-1 but Laurier erupted for four goals in the final 20 minutes to run away with the win. Diana Cicchillo and Nicole Gooding had a goal and an assist each, while Morgan Wielgosz made 27 saves.
Aleisha Lusk stopped all 28 shots she faced leading the Guelph Gryphons to a 4-0 win over the Toronto Varsity Blues Sunday. Arden Sullivan scored twice for Guelph, while Elaine Dumas and Bianca Kitts chipped in a goal and an assist each. Toronto had picked up a win the previous night, defeating the Windsor Lancers 4-3 in a wild game that saw the Blues score four times in third period get the two points. Justine Todd had two goals and an assist for Toronto. Lisa Roberston made 21 saves for the win.
Waterloo goaltender Alexis Huber made 40 saves as the Warriors and Brock Badgers skated to a 2-2 tie Friday, while Guelph and York also drew 2-2 Saturday. Sullivan scored both goals for second-place Guelph, giving the second-year London native five goals in five games.
