LIONS UPSET TOP-RANKED LAURIER 2-1
The Golden Hawks, who entered the contest with a perfect 10-0 record, fired 38 shots on goal but could only beat York goaltender Melanie Quinn (pictured) on one occasion. The two-time OUA All-Star made her second start in as many days after missing more than a month due to injury.
Dorothy Aniuk's goal seven minutes into the third period proved to be the game-winner. Riley Edwards scored the other Lions goal with just under five minutes remaining in the opening frame.
Ashley Stephenson had the lone goal for Wilfrid Laurier, while goalie Kirsten Trost recorded 18 saves in a losing cause.
The win is the second straight for York, who snapped a five-game losing streak with a 2-1 victory over the Western Mustangs on Friday. The Lions improve to 4-5-3 with the victory, while the Golden Hawks are 10-1-0.
