YORK TOPPLES NO. 1 WLU, WHILE ALLGOOD SETS BROCK RECORD
Kate Allgood hasn’t been with the Brock Badgers long but the second-year Toronto native is already the school’s leading scorer. Allgood scored all four of Brock’s goals as they defeated the Queen’s 4-1 at Merritton Arena Saturday. Her second of the night, which proved to be the winner, was the 36th of her short career and 59th point, surpassing last year’s captain Heather Allan as the program’s all-time leading point producer. Briar Komenda assisted on three of Allgood’s markers, while Laura Amadio made 34 saves for the Badgers in the win.
Brock did drop their next game of the weekend, a 2-1 decision to the Waterloo Warriors Sunday in Waterloo. Kaitlin Martin and Nadine Vanden Heuvel scored for the Warriors. Goalie Alexis Huber made 24 saves for the victory. Allgood scored the lone Brock goal for her 62nd point as a Badger. On Saturday, Waterloo and the Guelph Gryphons battled to a 4-4 draw in Guelph. Second-year Waterloo native Elaine Dumas had a hat-trick for the hosts, while Laura Sturch and Sarah Bryson scored two goals each for the Warriors. The Gryphons lost 2-1 to the Toronto Varsity Blues Sunday. Guelph is 6-3-4-0 after 13 games, second in the OUA standings behind Laurier.
