MUSTANGS PULL OFF UPSET OVER DEPLETED HAWKS
Despite the big win against the top-ranked team in the nation, the Mustangs couldn't keep the momentum going as they lost 2-0 to the No. 7 Toronto Varsity Blues Sunday. Janine Davies and Emily Patry had goals for Toronto, while Stephanie Lockert turned away all 15 shots she faced for the shut-out in her second win on the season. The Blues picked up an important point in their other game this weekend, a 1-1 draw with the Queen's Golden Gaels. Victoria Kaufman established a one-goal lead when she scored in the first period but Sue McCutcheon's equalizer in the third sent the game to overtime, where nothing was decided. Toronto is second in the OUA with a 9-6-2-2 record, 11 points behind the Hawks. Queen's sit in third at 9-7-2-0 after beating the York Lions 3-1 Sunday. Keri Baker, Miranda Costie and Molly Groenwegen all scored for the Gaels.
York and the Waterloo Warriors drew 1-1 Saturday. The Brock beat the Warriors 5-3 Friday thanks to two goals and an assist from CIS goals leader Kate Allgood. The third-year forward, last week's OUA athlete of the week, has a CIS-best 23 goals and leads the OUA scoring race by 13 points.
The Windsor Lancers beat the Gryphons 2-1 Saturday as Tricia Pray and Mara De Laroche scored. Katie Clubb made 37 saves in the Lancers net.
