BUSY BLUES TAKE TWO OF THREE ON THE WEEK
The Blues did end the week on a down note after running into the defending CIS champions Laurier Golden Hawks in Waterloo. Laurier’s Candice Djukic scored twice and goaltender Kirsten Trost made 17 saves for the shut-out as the Golden Hawks skated to a 4-0 win. Samantha Cully had a goal and two assist for Laurier, while Lindsay Arbeau and Lauren Barch each chipped in two helpers. Laurier also beat the Waterloo Warriors by a shut-out, blanking their rival 5-0 Saturday. Barch had two goals in that win, while Laurissa Kenworthy added a goal and an assist. Morgan Wielgosz made 15 saves to pick up the shut-out.
The Windsor Lancers and Queen’s Golden Gaels played a pair of games this week, with the Golden Gaels winning the first meeting 3-1 Friday Saturday at Adie Knox Herman Arena. Amanda Morra scored twice for the Golden Gaels, while goaltender Claire Hunt made 30 saves in the win. The teams each earned a point in their re-match Sunday, a 1-1 tie. Windsor’s Mara DeLaroche opened the scoring in the second period to give Windsor a 1-0 lead but Queen’s responded in the third with an equalizer from Mary McNeill.
Brock defeated the Guelph Gryphons 4-1 Sunday. Kate Allgood was the difference in the game for the Badgers, as the star centre had two goals and an assist.
