NO.5 WINDSOR LOSES SECOND STRAIGHT GAME, WHILE TORONTO WINS BUZZER BEATER AGAINST NO.9 OTTAWA
The No. 5 Windsor Lancers men’s basketball team lost their second straight game this past Saturday as they fell at home to the Laurier Golden Hawks 66-62. The Lancers had a hard time from the field shooting just 25 for 64 and justfour for 16 from behind the arc. Laurier did an excellent job staying out of foul trouble only accumulating six personal fouls on the night to the Lancers 18. Matthew Walker (Waterloo, Ontario) led the Golden Hawks on the night with 22 points and seven rebounds. For the Lancers, Kevin Kloostra (Chatham, Ontario) and Greg Surmacz (Peterborough, Ontario) contributed with 19 and 18 points respectively. With the loss the Lancers drop to 12-5 on the season, and now sit just two points a head of the Brock Badgers in the West Division standings. With the win Laurier now moves to 8-9 and looks to gain on their momentum from the win as the push towards the playoffs.

Fifth year forward Mike Williams (Brampton, Ontario) hit the game winning field goal with less than a second remaining in regulation time to lift the University of Toronto Varsity Blues (11-7) to a 70-68 victory over No.9 Ottawa Gee-Gees (15-4) this past Friday night in men’s basketball action. Williams had a team-high 15 points and 10 rebounds for Toronto, while Josh Gibson-Bascombe (Ottawa, Ontario) led all scorers with 20 points and six boards in a losing cause for the Garnet and Grey. On the night Toronto’s free throw shooting was on the mark shooting 12 for 14 from the charity stripe. With the loss Ottawa now falls four points back from No.4 Carleton Ravens (17-2), who will now be tough to catch for the Gee-Gees heading into the final two weeks of the regular season.
