WINDSOR DOMINATES LAURENTIAN, CARLETON OVERTAKES MCMASTER
The University of Windsor (2-0) dominated the Laurentian University (1-1)93-45 in Friday night’s basketball action and Lancer season home opener at the St. Denis Centre. The win was the first for the Lancers who are now 2-0 after the weekend and number two in the west, while Laurentian is even at 1-1.
The Lancers separated themselves early with a 15-3 first quarter lead on their way to the 48-point win. The lead was extended to 30 by the half way mark with a successful game from the post and consistently successful shooting. Laurentian didn’t have an answer for the relentless Lancer attack, comprised mainly of non-starters in the second half.
Windsor’s scoring was well distributed among its players as Ryan Steer (Windsor, Ont.) led the way with 16 points and eight assists, while Matt Handsor (Chatham, Ont.) and Issac Kuon (Mississauga, Ont.) each contributed 12 points on the night. Laurentian’s Omar Linder (Saginaw, USA) and Bryan Davidson (Sudbury, Ont.) tallied 10 and nine points respectively, their team’s biggest point-getters in the game.
