OTTAWA UPSETS NO.5 MCGILL 5-2
The University of Ottawa Gee-Gees (6-11-3-2) surprised the McGill Redmen (11-5-3-1) with a 5-2 victory over the No.5 ranked Redmen in men’s hockey action at McConnell arena this past weekend. The Gee-Gees showed some fire on the road, coming back from a one goal deficit with four unanswered goals. Pierre-Andre LeBlanc (Dieppe, New Brunswick) scored the game winner. Gee-Gee’s goaltender Jordan Watt (North Delta, British Columbia) took home the win, while Redmen goalie Mathiew Poitras (Laval, Quebec) was credited with the loss on the night.

Ryan Hare (Sarnia, Ontario) scored twice while Craig Kennedy (Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario) added three assists as the Western Mustangs rolled over the Lakehead Thunderwolves 6-3 at the John Labatt Centre this past Saturday night, in the first of a two game crucial weekend double header. Brad Topping (Strathroy, Ontario) made 24 saves for his ninth win this season in the Mustang net. Western went three for five on the powerplay, and it was a chippy affair with 19 minor penalties in the game. With a second win this past Sunday night, Western now moves ahead of Lakehead in the Far West Division standings.
