WATERLOO DOWNS GUELPH, LAKEHEAD WALKS OVER UOIT
Waterloo 5, Guelph 3- The University of Waterloo Warriors (8-4) downed the University of Guelph Gryphons (6-7) by a score of 5-3. The win improves the Warriors to 8-4 for third place in the Far West division while Guelph drops to a 6-7 record.
Waterloo was in complete control leading 3-0 after two, but the Gryphons would battle back and would close the gap to 4-3 late in the game. However, the Warriors would prove too much for Guelph.
Kyle Pellerin (Regina, SK) scored with 1:31 remaining in the third to secure the victory for Waterloo. Warrior goaltender Jimmy Bernier (Baie-Comeau, QC) made 34 saves and earned the win for Waterloo.

Lakehead 6, UOIT 1
The number six-ranked University of Lakehead Thunderwolves (10-2) defeated the visiting UOIT Ridgebacks (1-7-2) with a 6-1 win Saturday night at the Fort William Gardens in Thunder Bay. Lakehead raises its OUA record to 10-2 as while UOIT falls to 1-7-2 in OUA play.
Lakehead's goals came from three defensemen, Andy Zulyniak, Jordan B. Smith, and Jordan C. Smith, and two forwards, Brock Mcpherson and Tobias Whelan. UOIT's solo goal came from Brent Varty (Oshawa, Ont.).
Five of the six Lakehead goals came on their improving powerplay and UOIT's goal also came with the man advantage. Lakehead was 5-9 on the powerplay while UOIT was 1-7. Lakehead outshot UOIT 47-19 in the game. Lakehead goaltender Kyle Moir earned the win, his third this season, with 18 saves on the night.
