EAST WEST BOWL ROSTERS ANNOUNCED
East
The East team will be coached by Gary Jeffries, Head coach of the Vanier Cup Champions Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks. The team will be comprised of players from the 14 CIS football teams East of Toronto, including York and University of Toronto.
Coach Jeffries is very enthusiastic by his participation in this year's event. \"The first three games presented here at Laurier have been successes, and I feel the great support from football fans in the Quebec City area can only make the event better and bigger.\" Jeffries has been able to witness that unique atmosphere two years ago when his Hawks played battled the hometown Rouge et Or in the Uteck Bowl.
Coach Jeffries will have a lot of talent at his disposal. The four Laval representatives, linebacker Eric Maranda, defensive lineman Michael Jean-Louis, receiver Duane John and running back Pierre-Luc Yao will obviously be the centre of attention for the entire week.
Among the other players representing the East will be Yves Bériault from University of Montreal, possibly the best kick returner in the country, Concordia quarterback Scott Syvret, 2005 Hec Crighton nominee, 2005 President's Trophy winner Patrick Donovan, also from the Stingers, and AUS All-Conference running back Marvin McCooty from Saint-Francis Xavier University.
West
Brian Towriss, head coach of the Saskatchewan Huskies, will be coaching the West team. He will be able to count on a very talented group of players, very confident after three straight victories in the previous years.
Towriss will be able to count on some of his own Huskies in this year's game. One of them will be defensive lineman Brian Guebert, who will participate for the second time. \"Taking part in the East-West Bowl is a real honour, especially for the second time. I am looking forward to having the opportunity to represent my team, my university and my conference, Canada West.\"
Also back for a second year will be Western University running back Randy McAuley, who won the Player of the Game award in 2005, thanks to a 104 yard kick return.
