WATERLOO'S CHRIS BEST WINS J.P. METRAS TROPHY
Chris Best, a six-foot-four, 320-pound mechanical engineering student, was named to the first all-Canadian team for the second straight campaign following another dominating season in the trenches. The fifth-year senior was the cornerstone of an offensive line that allowed only seven sacks of quarterback Jon Morbey in conference play while helping the Warriors finish in the top half of the OUA in rushing with over 157 yards per game.
Best, selected fourth overall in the 2005 CFL draft by the Saskatchewan Roughriders, became the first Warrior ever to capture the J.P. Metras Trophy since the inception of the award in 1974.
\"Chris' pass protection is excellent, his trap blocks are outstanding and his run blocking is exceptional,\" said Waterloo pilot Marshall Bingeman. \"His leadership skills are second to none.\"
