GUELPH CONTINUES TO DOMINATE IN 2005
The fourth ranked team in the nation continued to dominate their competition in this weekend's action, as the Gryphons shutout the Mustangs with a 2-0 victory. Rookie player, Elysia Desmier, played a strong offensive game for Guelph scoring both of the team's goals while Lindsay Trimble, Carrie Tokarcyzk, Elaine Dumas, and Sarah Long each added an assist in the victory. With the win, Guelph improves to 8-2-2 on the season while Western surrendered their fourth loss of the season.
Waterloo 5, Windsor 1
Waterloo Warriors started their first official weekend of 2005 with a win over the Windsor Lancers. Kirsten Lindstol recorder her first hat trick of the year and also added an assist. Michelle Curtis and Juli Schamlz both added single goals. Alexis Huber recorded the win with 27 saves and allowed only one goal to the Lancers. Kerry Rumble scored the lone goal for the Lancers in the final period and Jessica Finlayson picked up the assist. Katie Clubb documented the loss but put forth a tremendous effort with 27 saves.
York 2, Western 2
The game between the York Lions and the Western Mustangs ended in a 2-2 draw. York let a two-goal lead slip away midway through the second period as Western scored twice in a span of 54 seconds. Lisa Sweetman and Jennifer Kramar were the goal scorers for the Lions while Kathleen O'Reilly Ashley McManus led the Mustangs to the tie each scoring a goal. Western out shot the Lions 37-13 but they could not capitalize on their shots as Melanie Quinn played a strong game for York stopping 35 of the 37 shots she faced. With the 2-2 final, Western recorded their seventh tie of the season while York recorded their first tie of the season.
