ERSKINE NAMED BROCK FULL-TIME WOMEN'S HOCKEY COACH
\"We are very pleased and excited to have Todd as a full-time coach. He started the program seven years ago and is totally committed to making the women's hockey program one of the best in the country. I wish Todd and the team every success as they work toward a national title,\" said Adams.
Erskine was named the OUA and CIS Coach of the Year in 2004-05. In his seventh season behind the bench, Erskine led the Badgers to their best season since joining the OUA five years ago. Brock finished the regular season with a school-best 13-7-1-1 record good for second place in the OUA East Division, and advanced to the conference Final Four for the first time in its third playoff appearance.
Erskine had a vision of women's hockey at Brock a few years ago and made it happen. He was the convenor of women's intramural hockey at the school for two years when he decided to organize a club while still a student.
The team was sanctioned with the OWHA in January of 1999, and was granted varsity status for the 2000-2001 season.
His coaching background includes an advanced level coaching certificate along with many various coaching experiences, including Guest Coach Prospects Tournament from 2001 2003, Guest Coach NMGHL All-Star Team from 2001-2003, and Team Liaison Japan National Team in 2000.
Erskine holds a Bachelor of Arts Honours Health Studies degree from Brock University.
Quote From Todd Erskine..
\"It is truly an honour and dream come true to accept the position of full time women's hockey coach at Brock. I have many people to thank for this opportunity, I owe them a huge debt of gratitude. I specifically want to thank Lorne Adams and the department of athletics, the players past and present of the hockey team, my coaching staff and of course my family and friends for all of their support. It has been a great sacrifice but my patience has for sure paid off.
It is hard to believe how far women's hockey has come along at Brock over the past 7 years. To have started the team and to reach this point is incredible. It is very satisfying to be given the opportunity to be a full time coach and take this program to even further heights. It is a challenge that I gracefully accept along with the responsibility that comes with it.
