    GRYPHONS UPSET AT HOME

    Western 2, Guelph 0

The No. 3 ranked Guelph Gryphons played host to the Western Mustangs in this weekend's hockey action but were upset at home as the Mustangs recorded the 2-0 shutout victory. Third year defensive player, Erin Gray, led the Mustangs to just their second win of the season with a goal and an assist while rookie teammate, Leigh Trimm-Combes, scored the teams other goal. Western's goal tender, Sarah Pickard, recorded the shutout stopping all 29 shots she faced. With the loss, Guelph remains in second place in the West just three points behind Laurier and will look to rebound against Queen's on Saturday afternoon.

    Laurier 4, Windsor 1 & Laurier 5, Western 0

The second ranked team in the nation continued their strong play on the ice winning both their games on the road this weekend. In their first match against the Lancers, Laurier outshot Windsor 38-13 opening up a 3-0 lead heading into the third period. Rookie Golden Hawk, Samantha Cully, led the team to victory scoring her fifth and sixth goals of the season while teammates, Laurissa Kenworthy and Amanda Joseph added a goal and an assist a piece. The Lancers lone goal scorer was Megan Casey but they could not stop the strong offensive play of the Hawks.

In their second game on Sunday afternoon, Laurier shutout the Mustangs 5-0 in convincing fashion. The Golden Hawks scored four goals in the second period to take a commanding 4-0 lead heading into the final period of play. Jennifer Heslin, Lindsay Arbeau, and Samantha Cully led Laurier to victory scoring a goal a piece and adding an assist. Laurissa Kenworthy scored her second goal of the weekend and teammate Diana Cicchillo also scored a goal for the win. With two victories this weekend, Laurier remains atop the West Division with a 14-1-2-1 record.

    Queen's 7, Brock 4 & Brock 3, Queen's 2

East division rivals, the Brock Badgers and the Queen's Golden Gaels battle it out on the ice this weekend in a double header with each team skating away with a victory. On Friday night, despite being outshot 53-28 the Golden Gaels were able to defeat the No. 8 ranked Badgers 7-4. Newly crowned as the OUA all-time scorer, Elizabeth Chiasson continued her strong offensive play this season recording a hat trick in the victory while rookie teammate, Amanda Stenson, added a goal and an assist. Goaltender, Christy McKinnon, also played a strong game for the Golden Gales helping to keep her team in this game stopping 49 of the 53 shots she faced.

In their second match-up, Brock was able to rebound from the previous nights loss to take the 3-2 victory. Michelle Edgar and Heather Allen each scored a goal for the Badgers while teammate Melissa Miller scored the game winning goal at 2:55 into the third period recording her first goal of the season. In net, Angie Mallory helped keep Brock in the game stopping 47 shots. Queen's goal scorers were Alison Barclay and Miranda Costie. With this weekends split, Brock remains in second place just three points ahead of Queen's.

    Toronto 2, Waterloo 1

The No. 10 ranked Varsity Blues traveled to Waterloo to take on the Warriors and came away with the 2-1 victory. Second year player, Janine Davies and veteran Blues player Jillian Savin, led the team to victory with a goal a piece while teammate, Andrea Patry, added an assist.
