CHIASSON MOVES INTO SECOND PLACE FOR ALL-TIME SCORING RECORD
The race for the OUA career scoring record continued this weekend as veteran players Elizabeth Chiasson and Jacqueline Cherevaty dueled it out on the ice as both inched closer to beating the record. Amanda Morra and Michelle Clark-Crumpton led the Golden Gaels to their 5-4 overtime victory each scoring a goal and adding two assists while teammates Chiasson and Barclay each had a goal and an assist a piece. Toronto's goal scorers were Cherevaty, Amy Caldwell, Janine Davies, and Justine Todd. With two points in this game, Chiasson career scoring record improves to 133 points while Cherevaty career total rises to 126 points.
Queen's 2, Waterloo 2 (OT)
The game between the Golden Gaels and the Warriors ended in a 2-2 draw, as overtime settled nothing. Sarah Bryson and Stacey Grygiel were the goal scorers for Waterloo while Keri Baker and Amanda Morra scored Queen's two goals. Elizabeth Chiasson moved into second place for the OUA career scoring record surpassing Laurier's Lisa Blackman with 135 points and will look to set a new record on Friday night against the Lancers needing only two more points. With the tie, Queen's record stands at 7-5-1-1 on the season while the Warriors record another tie improving to 3-5-4-2 this year.
Brock 4, Waterloo 3
The Waterloo Warriors hosted the Brock Badgers but fell at home, loosing in a close game 4-3. The Warriors jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first period but the Badgers battled back scoring two goals in each of the next two periods. Second year players, Kate Allgood and Briar Komenda led the Badgers to victory with a goal and an assist a piece while teammates, Sarah McDade and Michelle Edgar were the teams other goal scorers. Third year forward, Julie Schmalz led Waterloo with a goal and an assist while fellow Warriors, Lindsay Wood and Kaity Martin, each added a goal in a loosing cause. Waterloo will look to bounce back from this loss against Laurier on Wednesday night.
Toronto 5, York 1
The Toronto Varsity Blues crushed the York Lions out shooting them 56-9 leading them to a 5-1 victory. Second year forward, Jennifer McMahon played another good game for Toronto scoring two goals while Emily Patry scored her fifth goal of the season and added an assist in the victory. The Lions lone goal scorer was Michelle Damiani but they could not get their offence going as they dropped their fourteenth loss of the season while Toronto improved to 10-3-1-1 on the season.
