GEE-GEES PUT UNBEATEN STREAK ON THE LINE AGAINST RAVENS IN WOMEN'S SOCCER
uOttawa (1-0-1), which enters the match 23-0-7 in the all-time series, face Carleton (0-1-1) in a 7:00 p.m. start at Ravens' Field.
"The record makes me cautious," said 16-season Gee-Gees head coach Steve Johnson, who will oppose first-year Ravens head coach Alex McNutt for the first time. "It's something I try not to think about."
The Gee-Gees are as aware of the all-time stat versus the Ravens as they are their own academic schedules.
"We make sure all the rookies know about it," said fifth-year Gee-Gees striker Courtney Luscombe, who scored consecutive season-opening goals as uOttawa split the opening weekend of the season with a 2-2 tie Saturday at Nipissing and 3-0 shutout Sunday at Laurentian.
For her efforts, Luscombe was named the first recipient of female athlete of the week at both the University of Ottawa and Ontario University Athletics.
"It is a big rivalry ... and something we don't want to jinx."
