OUA W-SOCCER ROUNDUP: NO. 4 BADGERS WALLOP WARRIORS
The Badgers took an early 1-0 lead just three minutes in when senior Lisa D'Aguanno (Richmond Hill, Ont.) scored off a header on a Cassandre Van Bakel (Aurora, Ont.) corner kick.
Van Bakel put the Badgers up 3-0 on back-to-back goals in the 12th and 17th minutes. These were her Brock career-leading 14th and 15th goals.
Senior Ali Gartley (Camlachie, Ont.) recorded her first goal of the season in the 20th minute as she beat Waterloo netminder Taylor Meyers (Emo, Ont.).
With less than five minutes remaining in the first half, Brock freshman Lindsay McDonald (Burlington, Ont.) would drive down the left hand side past the Waterloo defence and on the run buried a shot into the top right hand corner over the head of Meyers.
In the 44th minute, third year midfielder Laura Tirone (Welland, Ont.) would drive a shot from 22 yards out past Meyers for her second of the season.
Jaclyn Huskamp (Petersburg, Ont.) scored Waterloo's lone goal in the second half.
The Badgers visit Western while the Warriors host York on Sept. 26. Both games start at 1 p.m.
LAURIER 4, MCMASTER 2
At McMaster, the No. 5-ranked Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks (3-0-1) got goals from four different goal scorers to defeat the host Marauders (1-2-1) by a 4-2 score.
Scoring for the Golden Hawks were Alyssa Lagonia (Kitchener, Ont.), Ali McKee (Bracebridge, Ont.), Heather Malizia (Burlington, Ont.) and Sarah Houghton (Waterloo, Ont.).
Responding for McMaster were Samantha McLaren (Oakville, Ont.) and Chantal Malysa (Calgary).
The Golden Hawks host Guelph while the Marauders visit Windsor on Sept. 26. Both are 1 p.m. starts.
OTTAWA 3, TRENT 0
At Trent, the No. 6-ranked Ottawa Gee-Gees (4-0-2) earned a 3-0 road victory over the Excalibur (0-5-1).
Three different scorers got on the score sheet for the Gee-Gees, including Gillian Baggot (Ottawa), Dominique Faladeau (Ottawa) and Catherine Scott (Pointe-Claire, Que.).
Melissa Pesant (Gatineau, Que.) earned the shutout for the Gee-Gees.
Ottawa hosts cross-town rival the Carleton Ravens on Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. The Excalibur hosts RMC at 4 p.m.
QUEEN'S 3, NIPISSING 1
At Queen's, the host Gaels (3-1-1) drained the Nipissing Lakers (2-2-2) by a 3-1 count.
Jennifer Hutchinson (St. John's, Nfld.) opened the scoring for the Gaels at the 15-minute mark, but Alex Instance (Petawawa, Ont.) responding with a game-tying goal at the 32 minute-mark. The game was tied at 1-1 at halftime.
Queen's pulled away with two unanswered goals in the second half. Renee MacLellan (Kingston, Ont.) and Riley Filion (Alexandria, Ont.) scored for the Gaels.
Nipissing hosts Ryerson on Sept. 26 at 12 noon. Queen's visits cross-town Royal Military College at 1 p.m.
WINDSOR 2, YORK 2
At York, the Windsor Lancers (1-1-2) and host Lions (2-1-1) battled to a 2-2 tie.
Nicole Markowitz (Toronto) gave York a 1-0 lead, but the Lancers responded with two of their own. Sara Kox (Denfield, Ont.) and Candace Garrod (Kingsville, Ont.) both scored for Windsor.
York pulled out the tie on a marker by Alicia Donaldson (Mississauga, Ont.).
WESTERN 2, GUELPH 1
At Guelph, the Western Mustangs (2-2-0) improved to .500 with a road win over the Gryphons (0-2-2).
Third-year midfielder Erin Grand (Toronto) scored both goals for the Mustangs.
First-year player Brianna Rawson (Richmond Hill, Ont.) netted Guelph's lone marker.
LAURENTIAN 0, RMC 0
At RMC, the Laurentian Lady Vees (3-2-1) and host Paladins (0-3-1) remained deadlocked at zeros the entire game, giving RMC its first point of the season.
Olivia Clarke (Caledon East, Ont.) of RMC and Victoria Kulczycki (London, Ont.) of Laurentian earned shutouts in net.
The Lady Vees host Toronto on Sept. 26 at 12 noon.
