BOMBERS ADD BIRUNGI
WINNIPEG, Man. - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL signed former Ottawa Gee-Gees receiver Ivan Birungi on Tuesday.
Birungi (Pickering, Ont.) was a standout in CIS, playing four years at Acadia, where earned back-to-back AUS conference MVP honours (2005, 2006).
Birungi holds the AUS and Axemen regular season record for career touchdown receptions at 29. He transferred to the University of Ottawa for his final CIS season in 2008. Before an injury cost him the last five games of the regular season, Birungi caught 17 passes for 417 yards and four touchdowns.
He was drafted by the Montreal Alouettes in 2006.
