BADGERS TO HOST M-HOCKEY GAME IN SUPPORT OF GILLIAN'S PLACE
ST. CATHARINE'S, Ont. - The Brock University men's hockey team will face off against Concordia University in an afternoon game at 2:05 p.m. on Sun., Jan. 18 at the Seymour-Hannah Sports and Entertainment Centre. This is an important day for the community as Brock University Athletics and Henley Honda are bringing families and friends together to support a great local cause; Gillian's Place: empowering abused women of Niagara.
As one of Ontario's first shelters for abused women and children, Women's Place St. Catharines & North Niagara has been providing safe refuge and non-residential programs that enable women and children to break the cycle of violence since 1977.
Gillian's Place is the only shelter in the Niagara region for abused women and children. Their mission is to create a safe environment for abused women and children and to bring awareness to the issue of violence against women. They need community support and donations are always welcome for the women and children.
We encourage those in attendance to bring donations to help support Gillian's Place and cash donation boxes will be set up in the lobby during the game. Tickets can be purchased at the Brock University Campus Store or Badger Sport Shop, at Henley Honda, Gillian's Place, or at the door on game day; $4 for students and $7 for non-students. Games will be played, prizes will be won, and there will be an autograph signing after the game for a chance to meet some of the players. We hope to see you there!
What is needed: (new or lightly used)
- women's pyjamas and slippers
- towels, facecloths
- clothes, CD's, gift certificates, anything that teenagers would appreciate
- canned and dried foods
