WINDSOR 3, NO. 5 LAKEHEAD 0
WINDSOR, Ont. - The No. 5 Lakehead Thunderwolves men's hockey team's eight-game OUA and 12-game overall winning streak came to an end Saturday as the Wolves were shut out 3-0 by the Windsor Lancers.
Lakehead sophomore netminder Kyle Moir (Calgary, Alta.) took the loss while Windsor goalie Jim Watt (Edmonton, Alta.) earned his 12th win of the season. Windsor outshot Lakehead 33-31 in the game.
The Lancers scored a goal in each period, courtesy of Mark Thorburn (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.), Josh Gaynor (Goderich, Ont.), and Brett Vandehogen (Chatham, Ont.). Thorburn and Vandehogen each added an assist as well.
Both teams' penalty kill units were effective as Lakehead was 0-5 on the power play while Windsor went 0-7.
The Windsor victory means that both teams split in each other's home arena in this season's four regular season games. This is the Wolves second 3-0 shutout loss of the season; losing by the same score to Western on Nov. 31.
Lakehead returns home to Thunder Bay where they will host the powerful Waterloo Warriors next Friday and Saturday nights at the Fort William Gardens in another crucial OUA Far West battle.

TORONTO 4, RYERSON 2
TORONTO, Ont. - The Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team came away with a 4-2 victory over the Ryerson Rams on Saturday at Varsity Arena.
Ryerson opened up the scoring when Stewart D'Eall (Toronto, Ont.) picked up a loose rebound in front of the net and put it past Blues goaltender Andrew Martin (Mississauga, Ont.).
Minutes later, Bryden Teich (Toronto, Ont.) sent a centring pass to Joel Lenius (Markham, Ont.) who fired a shot over the glove of Ryerson goaltender Paul Gibson (St. Thomas, Ont.) into the top corner of the net.
The Blues tallied again as Ed Snetsinger (Ajax, Ont.) sent a pass to Claudio Cowdrey (Mississauga, Ont.) in front of the net who slid the puck through Gibson's legs to put the Blues up by one.
Fifth-year veteran Steve Devine (Scarborough, Ont.) walked over the blue line and sent a slap shot through traffic that trickled into the net. The Blues held a 3-1 lead after the first period.
The play turned physical in the second period, with both teams throwing their weight around to gain an advantage. The Rams got lucky when first-year defenceman Michael Paolo's (Mississauga, Ont.) point shot was deflected by a Blues player and floated over Martin's head into the net.
Ryerson got into some penalty trouble and the Blues power play unit took full advantage when Joe Rand (Hamilton, Ont.) redirected a Snetsinger point shot to give the Blues a two-goal lead.
Despite some good scoring chances, neither team would score again and the Blues skated away with the 4-2 victory.
Snetsinger earned five points in the home-and-home series with the Rams. Toronto defeated Ryerson 5-2 on Thursday.

MCGILL 5, RMC 2
KINGSTON, Ont. – Freshman Francis Verrault-Paul, a 5-foot-9, 169-pound right-winger from Mashteviatsh, Que., tallied twice as McGill defeated Royal Military College 5-2 in men's hockey at Constantine Arena in Kingston on Sunday.
The Redmen, who outshot RMC 47-31, led 3-0 after two periods on goals from rookie Alexandre Picard-Hooper (Boucherville, Que.), Verrault-Paul and Simon Marcotte-Légaré, a sophomore from Longueuil, Que., who netted what proved to be the game-winner, on the power play, at 11:04 of the middle stanza.
The Paladins ruined Danny Mireault's (Notre-Dame-des-Prairies, Que.) bid for his first CIS shutout, striking twice in 66 seconds at the midway mark of the third on power play markers by Jeff Oke (Grand Bend, Ont.) and Luke Pierce.
Verrault-Paul snuffed out the RMC rally with his second of the game and team-leading 11th of the season at the 16:58 mark and veteran Guillaume Doucet (Montreal, Que.) put the contest out of reach with an empty-netter.
The surging Redmen, who started their 133rd season with an 0-4-1 record and dwelled in the OUA Far East cellar from opening day until last week, have won eight of their last 10 games and improved to 12-7-2. With seven games remaining before playoffs, McGill now finds themselves third in the division, two points behind Concordia (12-6-4) with a game in hand.
