OUA M-HOCKEY ROUNDUP: GEE-GEES SURPRISE NO. 2 PATRIOTES
The last-place Gee-Gees halted a two-game losing streak to improve to 9-8-4 in the OUA Far East and hand the Patriotes just its second regulation loss of the season.
Third-year right winger Keven Gagne (St-Nicolas, Que.) opened the scoring for uOttawa at 1:52. Four minutes later second-year left wing Ryne Gove (Cornwall, Ont.) scored to set up Methot's game-winner at 18:30 of the first period.
Scoring for UQTR were Alexandre Blais (St-Anselme, Que.) and Etienne Bellavance-Martin (St-Jean-Chrysostome, Que.).
Gee-Gees second-year goaltender Riley Whitlock (Calgary, Alta.) made 32 saves for his ninth win of the season.
"We wanted to be more controlled and patient," said Gee-Gees head coach Dave Leger. "It was kind of boring, I guess to watch, but effective for us."

NO. 9 WESTERN 4, WATERLOO 3
WATERLOO, Ont. - Chris Petrow (Haliburton, Ont.) scored the game-winning goal on the power play as the Western Mustangs earned their 15th win of the regular season in a 4-3 battle with the Waterloo Warriors at the Columbia Ice Fields on Jan. 23.
Petrow beat Waterloo goalie Pier Pelletier (Saint-Louis-du-Ha! Ha!, Que.) with a wrist shot through traffic which went through the five-hole with just over eight minutes remaining.
Rookie forward Yashar Farmanara (West Vancouver, B.C.) led the Mustangs in points with a pair of assists.
It was a game of momentum, as the Mustangs gave the host Warriors all they could handle in the first period, outshooting them 16-4.
Western exploded for three second-period goals, started midway through the second by Patrick Ouellet (Baie-Comeau, Que.).
Kyle Sonnenburg (Waterloo, Ont.) scored his first of two on the night to tie the game at 1-1 but freshman Jason Furlong (London, Ont.) and sophomore Kyle Lamb (Port Coquitlam, B.C.) replied just over a minute apart to give Western the 3-1 edge after two periods.
In the final frame, it was all Waterloo.
Trying to solve Topping, Mark Hartman (Lebret, Sask.) ran into the Western netminder while Waterloo was on the power play early in the third period, but it disallowed a potential goal and ended the power play, as Hartman ended up in the sin-bin instead.
But it turned out to rattle the Mustangs netminder as, on the next Waterloo scoring play, Chris Ray (Kelowna, B.C.) scored a shorthanded goal. On a 44-second five-on-three man advantage, the Warriors tied the game, as Sonnenburg scored again.
Just seconds later, the Warriors nearly took the lead when David Edgeworth (Kingston, Ont.) hit the post with Waterloo still on the power play.
But Western held the Warriors off as Petrow's power play game-winner came just over three minutes later.
