MACLEAN'S OT WINNER SINKS GEE-GEES
MacLean's winner came fast at 4:44 from an odd angle past Gee-Gees second-year goaltender Riley Whitlock (Calgary, Alta.). The Ravens improved to 11-8-2 while the Gee-Gees fell to 8-6-4, two points behind Concordia for third-place in the OUA Far East.
Gee-Gees fourth-year centre Kevin Glode (Quebec City, Que.) forced overtime with a power play goal at 19:30 of the third period. Third-year left wing Yanick Charron (Hull, Que.), first-year defenceman Pierre Bergeron (Drummondville, Que.), with a power play goal, and rookie left wing Matthieu Methot (Ottawa, Ont.), with his team-leading 14th goal, also scored for the Gee-Gees, who were out-shot 32-25.
"I think we looked tired," said Gee-Gees coach Dave Leger, after the Ravens won for the second time in three meetings this season. "We were a bit sluggish."
The Gee-Gees played a third game in four days while the Ravens played a fourth game in six nights.
Forwards Andrew Self (Peterborough, Ont.) and Andrew Gibbons (Oshawa, Ont.) scored for Carleton before Shane Bakker (Navan, Ont.) and Francis Walker (St. Eustache, Ont.) each beat Whitlock within three minutes of the third period for a 4-2 advantage with nine minutes left.
Bergeron's second goal of the season came late in the three-goal first period - a wrister high over the glove of Ravens first-year goaltender Andrew Archibald (Ottawa, Ont.) – for a 2-1 Gee-Gees lead.
Gibbons tied the game 2-2 with the only goal of the second period, wiring a shot from the high slot past Whitlock, who fell to 8-3-1.
