BAUN TO HELP RIDGEBACKS OPEN MEN'S HOCKEY REGULAR SEASON
OSHAWA, Ont. - The UOIT Ridgebacks men's hockey team is ready to hit the ice as their 2009-10 home opener is scheduled to take place on Sat., Oct. 3 against Brock University. Puck drop at the Campus Ice Centre is at 7:30 p.m.
It is expected to be a great night with a big crowd on hand for the home opener. There will also be a special guest in attendance as Toronto Maple Leafs legend Bobby Baun is taking part in the opening ceremony.
"Bobby Baun is a hockey legend," said Ken Babcock, UOIT athletic director. "The home opener is always a special night but having Bobby in attendance will make it that much better."
Head coach Marlin Muylaert has his team well prepared for the start of the season, but knows that Brock University will be a tough test out of the gate.
"Brock always has a strong club," said Muylaert. "The Badgers are a team that you can never take lightly and we will have to be at the top of our game in order to pick up a win."
