GEE-GEES FORWARD LOOKS TO IMPRESS AT FISU TRY-OUT CAMP
Held in conjunction with the Canadian under-22 women's hockey training camp, the FISU games selection camp features 20 student-athletes including two goaltenders, six defence and 12 forwards from ten CIS schools.
“I think we are going to be told more about our chances when we get there," said Hottot, who had six goals in 18 conference games with the Gee-Gees last season.
“It gives me a confidence boost to be invited."
A 20-year-old forward from Sombra, ON who will enter her third season with the Gee-Gees in the fall, Hottot hopes to catch the eye of FISU games head coach Dan Church (York) following an impressive 2007 showing at a training camp of CIS all-stars.
"Last year I slept afterwards for two days," said Hottot.
"She deserves this opportunity – she has worked harder on her fitness over the last two seasons than any other athlete in our program," said Gee-Gees head coach Shelley Coolidge, who along with former uOttawa assistant coach Kim Thompson will serve as assistants under Church.
The CIS team will be chosen following four exhibition games against a split squad from the Canadian under-22 team, played next week beginning Monday.
The 2009 FISU Winter Universiade will take place in Harbin, Feburary, 2009.
