OUA W-HOCKEY ROUNDUP: GAELS SOAR PAST NO. 8 VARSITY BLUES
Elizabeth Kench (Gananoque, Ont.) netted the Gaels only even-strength goal which turned out to be the game-winner.
Queen's jumped out to a two-goal lead in the first period with Victoria Kaufmann (Whitby, Ont.) opening the scoring on the power play. Kench netted her fourth of the season with 32 seconds left in the opening frame.
Kristin Smith (Toronto, Ont.) extended the Gaels lead mid-way through the second, scoring a short-handed goal off a Varsity Blues giveaway.
Stacey Oue (Scarborough, Ont.) scored the Blues lone goal at the 15:54 mark of the second to pull Toronto within two heading into the third.
In the third period, Toronto found themselves in the penalty box four more times, leading to two more Queen's power play goals.
Second year defencemen Shelby Aitcheson (London, Ont.) notched her first-ever OUA goal to give the Gaels the 4-1 lead. Amanda Morra (Pickering, Ont.) netted the fifth and final goal.
Despite leading in penalties, Toronto managed to outshoot the Gaels 36-24. Melissa John (Unionville, Ont.) stood tall in net for the Gaels, stopping 11 shots in the third and 33 overall.

NO. 2 LAURIER 3, BROCK 1
WATERLOO, Ont. – Andrea Ironside (Collingwood, Ont.) netted her second game-winning goal of the week as the No. 2 nationally-ranked Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks defeated the Brock Badgers 3-1, continuing their perfect season at 25-0.
Daniela Di Felice (Kitchener, Ont.) scored the first goal of the contest early in the first period. About 10 minutes later, Ironside's game winner got by Brock goalkeeper Beth Clause (Hamilton, Ont.).
Ironside now leads the team with 32 points on the season – including a team-high 14 goals and 18 assists.
Badger forward Michelle Lee (Innisfil, Ont.) netted Brock's only goal of the contest at almost the midpoint of the second but forward Lauren Barch (Burlington, Ont.) scored a power play marker to put the Hawks up by two.
Clause, in net for Brock, stopped 37 of 40 shots on net before being pulled to the bench with 24 seconds remaining. Laurier goalie Liz Knox (Stouffville, Ont.) stopped 19 of 20.

NO. 6 GUELPH 5, WATERLOO 0
WATERLOO, Ont. - The No. 6 Guelph Gryphons women's hockey team shut out the Waterloo Warriors 5-0 on Sunday in Waterloo. With the win the Gryphons improve to 16-6-0-2 on the season.
Gryphons first-year goaltender Cassandra McNichol (Unionville, Ont.) stopped 33 shots for her third shutout of the season.
Third-year player Sarah McClinchey (Brampton, Ont.) tallied a pair of goals in the win. Tamara Bell (Guelph, Ont.), Jessica Zerafa (Mississauga, Ont.) and Dayna Kanis (Georgetown, Ont.) scored a goal apiece.
