In the Windsor Lancers 40-38 upset victory over the No. 5-ranked Ottawa Gee Gees, rookie quarterback Sam Malian completed 15 of 23 passes for 224 yards and two touchdowns. In the second quarter alone he hit his two favourite receivers Jordan Brescacin and Glenn MacKay for back-to-back touchdowns to give Windsor a 30-3 lead. DEFENCE: Alex Daprato, Queen’s Gaels, Free Safety
Queen’s Gaels free safety Alex Daprato (Toronto, Ont.) intercepted a Michael Faulds pass on the goal line and returned the ball 94-yards in a game-changing play. The play came in the second quarter with Queen’s up 9-1 and Western charging. That set up a Mike Giffin touchdown and turned the momentum on Queen’s side. Daprato also recorded a key knock down in the end zone later in the game helping lead the Gaels to a 43-16 victory. The Gaels now hold sole possession of first place and are the only remaining undefeated team in the OUA at 5-0.
