OUA FOOTBALL RECORD CHASE
While some like Windsor Lancers running back Daryl Stephenson (London, Ont.) and Ottawa Gee-Gees quarterback Josh Sacobie (Fredericton, N.B.) have already eclipsed OUA records, some other players have an opportunity to make history. Queen's Gaels receiver Scott Valberg (Kingston, Ont.) is four touchdown receptions away from tying a single season OUA record, while teammate Dan Brannagan (Burlington, Ont.) is three passing TDs from tying the OUA standard in one season. Western Mustangs defensive back Matt Carapella (London, Ont.) needs just one interception from setting a new OUA career record of 22.
Sacobie's record chase continues. He is 211 passing yards away from Ben Chapdelaine's record of 9,974, and is additional 26 yards from the significant milestone of 10,000 yards. He also needs 17 passing attempts to set a new OUA career standard. Sacobie is already the all-time OUA leader in passing touchdowns and passing completions.
On special teams, both Jimmy Allin (Belleville, Ont.) of Queen's and Jedd Gardner (Niagara Falls, Ont.) of the Guelph Gryphons are in a race for the punt return yardage crown of 2008. With good performances on Saturday, they could set a new single season standard in OUA.
See below for a list of OUA football records that have already been broken or could fall this weekend.
