OUA FOOTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENCE: Joey Nemet, McMaster Marauders, Running Back
In front of a Homecoming crowd of 4,711, McMaster Marauders sophomore running back Joey Nemet (Burlington, Ont.) galloped for a career high 172 yards on 20 carries (8.6 yards per carry) in a critical 40-11 victory over the Windsor Lancers. The win gave McMaster a berth in the OUA playoffs as the sixth and final seed. Nemet was named the Score University Rush Player of the Game for his efforts.

DEFENCE: John Surla, Western Mustangs, Linebacker
With another dominating defensive performance, John Surla left an exclamation point on what has been a brilliant season to date. He recorded 10.5 tackles, one sack and one interception along with several great first-down saving tackles in the final regular season game, a 47-16 win over Guelph. The native of Niagara Falls, Ont. finishes the regular season with 26 tackles (34 solo, 24 assisted), 6.5 sacks, six knockdowns, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and two interceptions.
SPECIAL TEAMS: Dan Village, Queen’s Gaels, Kicker
Dan Village of Abbotsford, Ont. finished up the regular season Saturday with the Gaels single season convert record which is now set at 45. Village who broke the record last weekend padded his record with another 5 converts in the 38-22 victory over Waterloo this weekend. Village leads the Gaels in points with 90 and has successfully hit 14 field goals this year.
