SOCCER LADY VEES CAGE PANTHERS
Saturday’s game was truly a good team effort by the Lady Vees with all players getting to see the field and strong play coming from the entire team, including the rookies.
Laurentian’s first goal came on a great overlapping run by MacKay (London, Ont.), a second year midfielder, who beat the Panthers defenders and placed the ball past the Wisconsin goalkeeper. The Lady Vees second goal allowed Corelli (Sudbury, Ont.), a rookie midfielder, to show some clutch play as she buried a penalty kick opportunity to make the game two to nothing. This was all the Laurentian women would need as the goalkeeping tandem of Hoffberg (Brampton, Ont.) and Kulczycki (London) shut the door on every Panther offensive attack.
“This was a good performance all the way around” said head coach Rob Gallo. “The rookies showed a lot of promise today and we look forward to them continuing to grow with the team.”
The Laurentian women’s soccer team will now finish off their preseason schedule against the host Concordia Stingers at 10 a.m. in Montreal.
