SCRIVER AND BROWN-THERIAULT NAMED BROCK ATHLETES OF THE YEAR
Scriver ended her university career as one of the most decorated female student-athletes in school history. In her fifth and final season, the five-time Academic All-Canadian led the Brock women's soccer team to their best finish in school history capturing a bronze medal at the OUA Championships, going out on a high with a silver medal performance at the CIS National Championships.
During the regular season, Scriver posted a 5-1-2 regular season record with 4 shutouts. She finished second in the OUA and tied for fourth in the CIS with a 0.44 goals against average. At the National Championships, she posted a 2-1 record with a 0.67 GAA including a shutout in the semi-finals against the No. 1 nationally ranked Montreal Carabins. For her performance, she was named the CIS All-Tournament team goalkeeper.
Scriver ends her career first in every statistical category, highlighted by 32 career shutouts, 29 career wins and a 0.54 career GAA. She also holds four Brock women's soccer single season records for Games Played (14 - 2006), Wins (6 - 2006), Shutouts (9 - 2006), and GAA (0.33 - 2005)
Finalists for Female Athlete of the Year included Beth Clause (women's hockey), Larissa Lagzdins (women's rowing) and Shauna Peddle (women's volleyball).
Brown-Theriault had a strong 2008-09 campaign for the Brock men's wrestling team, leading them to their 15th consecutive OUA title and a silver medal at the CIS National Championships.
He captured gold at both the OUA and CIS Championships in the 82kg weight class earning him OUA First Team All-Star and CIS First Team All-Canadian honours. During the regular season, he placed first at five other tournaments including the Hargobind International, Dino Invitational, McMaster Open, Brock Open and U of T Invitational. He also placed second at the France International Tournament and was third overall at the Guelph Invitational.
Finalists for Male Athlete of the Year included Jason Ermers (baseball) and Patrick O'Connor (men's rowing).
