ROBINSON CAPS FOR CANADA
MELIPILLA, Chile - Amanda Robinson, a reigning first-team CIS all-Canadian with Gee-Gees women’s soccer, earned her first cap for Canada Tuesday as the under-20 national team defeated Mexico 2-1 in its opening game of a Four Nations tournament.
According to the Canadasoccer.com Web site, Robinson, a 20-year-old native of Fredericton who would be playing her third season with the Gee-Gees, entered in the 91st minute as a substitute for Scottish-born Canadian goal-scorer Julie Armstrong.
Canada will play New Zealand on Thursday, September 18 and Chile on Saturday, September 20.
Robinson could remain with Canada through the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Chile 2008 from November 19 to December 7. The Canadians will play in Group C along with Germany, Japan and Congo DR.
