VETERAN RMC WOMEN'S SOCCER TEAM SET FOR ANOTHER SEASON
Head Coach Chad Beaulieu is pleased to announce the appointment of Oscar Lima as Goalkeeping & Assistant Coach.
"Oscar has so much experience with coaching goalkeepers in this country and abroad. It is great to be able to bring a staff member on board who has experience with professional clubs," added Beaulieu.
Long serving Assistant Coach Major Genevieve Lehoux will return for her fifth year with the program. In addition to the returning players, RMC will feature the following players who will join the team at training camp. First year players, Lynlee Armstrong, Ashley Clouthier, Victoria Clouthier, Danielle Genoe & Alexandra Warren are enthusiastic to show their abilities and unite with their new team-mates.
"The five recruits we have added will each bring unique skills to the team. I expect the recruits to match the competitive attitude and winning approach that our returning players display, so our first years will fit in quite well," stated Beaulieu
In goal, the Paladins will look to Erica Pessotto to continue her improved form from the 2007 season. Along with second year Veronique Lussier, RMC will have healthy competition between its goalkeepers.
At the Fullback position, RMC will rely on the combination of Sam Beckett and Heather MacLellan to lead the way. Third years Jesscia Hawn and Kayla MacMillan, as well as second year Amy Thornton progressed in winter training and competition to take their performances to higher levels.
"Playing 11 versus 11 all winter made a big difference for our athletes and these three have more confidence than ever," added Beaulieu.
Along with newcomer Armstrong, RMC will have six talented defenders to work with this year.
In the midfield the Paladins have athletes with different characteristics to choose from. Fourth year athletes include, Alexandre Brault, who is a courageous and determined player with great ball control, and Samantha Laplante whose fitness and athleticism are second to none on the team. Throw in second year Joycelyn Moffat’s playmaking and defensive abilities along with Laura Gray’s vision and experience, and RMC has a unique midfield line-up.
Up front, RMC will look for fourth year Marsalie MacKenzie & third year Kate Searle to put in top-level performances and increase their goal output this season.
