ROAD WEARY BLUES FALL TO NOTRE DAME COLLEGE IN TOURNEY FINALE
Falcons sophomore forward Eric Dummermuth notched a double-double to lead the Falcons to just their second win their last seven games. Dummermuth scored 27 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. After struggling through most of December, Notre Dame connected on 50.8 percent (33-of-65) from the floor.
The Blues on the other hand had closed out the first half of the regular season with three wins in four games. Their only blemish came at the hands of the Windsor Lancers on Nov. 27, in a nail-biting 61-60 loss on home court.
In this contest, Toronto shot 42.2 percent (27-of-64) from the floor and was only 9-of-30 (30 percent) from beyond the arc. They were also out-rebounded 43-29 and the Falcons exploited that advantage, scoring 44 points in the paint to the Blues 16.
Burlington, Ont. native Nick Magalas led the way for the Blues, while Nick Snow (London, Ont.) finished the game with 13 points and a team-high 13 rebounds.
On Tuesday, in their first game of the Baymont Inn tournament, Toronto lost 74-46 to another NAIA opponent - Indiana Wesleyan University – to put them into Wednesday’s consolation game against the host Falcons.
The Varsity Blues return to Ontario, following their three-game road trip, to take on a familiar OUA divisional rival, the Queen’s Gaels, in Kingston as their second half of the season kicks off on Jan. 8, 2010.
